Well, we were ready to push off today: seen all and done all there is to do in Guilderton. It's small and quaint and the beaches are beautiful but it was time to move on...
That was until we got a call from a friend in Perth who decided on a whim to come on up and asked if were here for the day because he and his son wanted to join us and stay overnight in a tent. Turns out we were staying in the end lol. It's been nice having someone new in the mix even if we did only say goodbye to them a few days ago. We've had a really quiet day today. The kids have fished (and still aren't catching much...we have to wait until we go up further north according to all who know about these things) and swum ..brrr.... mad.. and other than doing some sorting and cleaning up around and in the caravan because we are still trying to figure exactly where to put what to make things more efficient it's been a sit around the table and yack kind of day.
Had a great BBQ for dinner though. The kids have been having scrappy meals for dinner until we get a good system going so tonight they gorged themselves on meat that our friend was kind enough to bring up at our request. Food here is really expensive. Two tiny chops and two sausages will set you back almost 8 dollars and that's not going to cut it with this lot who due to all the fresh air and sunshine are eating better but more food. Couldn't buy mince to save my life and when I went in search of a bottle shop, turned out the "Big Shop" was a small combined deli/supermarket/bottle shop/petrol station. That said, the caravan park here is great.. really good. While there are a lot of people here now compared to when we booked in on Thursday, everyone is mindful of one another and fairly quiet.. yes, even us lol.
Tomorrow we are off to Cervantes - just for the night this time (so says she... again things might change) in our quest to head further north. I'm looking forward to hitting Shark Bay and Monkey Mia. And finding some more sunshine.
Till next time x
Fat Mr Pelican waiting for a free feed
About five minutes before this picture was taken Mason had about 6 little girls hanging around him. This little one hung on like a limpet only leaving when she had to go.
He even caught a crab for her when she asked him to - then promptly went, "That's a scary crab," and wouldn't go near it lol.
Where we walk to the river/ocean from the park. A toddle through a gate, down a small path and right onto the water.
Riley found a friend (absent from photo) and they swum for a good part of the morning. The water was freezing.
